If you want to buy a Tempex box, you will find the sizes, wall thicknesses and quantities per pallet below. A Tempex box is an EPS shipping box made of foam, and at Cooled Solutions every box comes with a matching lid, from our own production since 1972 and available from stock right away.

The base of 600 x 400 mm is a full euro size, so four boxes fit in a pallet layer without loss. The smaller sizes of 400 x 300 mm are a half euro size and also stack on a pallet without loss. A Tempex box is light, stackable and reusable.

Tempex box with lid: what is included?
Every box is supplied as a Tempex box with lid as standard. So you do not have to order the lid separately, as it fits the box exactly. A separate lid is only available on request.
A number of sizes come with and without drain holes, such as the 5 liter, the 12 liter and the 34 liter. Drain holes carry off meltwater, which is handy for fish. A box without drain holes keeps liquid inside. For several sizes a matching cardboard master carton is also available for extra protection during transport.
Buying Tempex boxes: per piece or per pallet
If you want to buy Tempex boxes in small quantities, you order them per piece. Larger volumes are ordered per pallet in the EPS boxes, with more boxes for a lower price per box.

Wall thickness and use: what fits your shipment?
The thicker the wall of an insulated foam box, the longer the contents stay at temperature. According to our product information, a thin-walled 20 mm box keeps products cool for about eight to twelve hours. A thick-walled box of 40 to 50 mm combined with gel packs reaches 24 to 48 hours. For shipments that are on the road for more than a day, choose a thick-walled version of 30 mm or more.
How long it stays cold also depends on the outside temperature, the coolant and the travel time. Read about that in how long a foam box stays cold.
Place ice packs on top of the contents and fill the box as full as possible. Still air in the box is fine, circulating warm air is not.
What do customers use a Tempex box for? The product information lists these applications:

Frequently asked questions about buying a Tempex box
Is a Tempex box the same as an EPS box?
Yes. A Tempex box is an expanded polystyrene box, and Tempex was once a brand name for expanded polystyrene. The material is identical: a white, light plastic that is about 98% air.
Does a Tempex box come with a lid?
Yes. Every Tempex box is supplied with a matching lid. A separate lid is only available on request.
Which Tempex box sizes are there for a euro size?
For the footprint of 600 x 400 mm there are, for example, heights of 155, 205, 300 and 400 mm, with a 30 or 50 mm wall. That gives 90, 60, 35 and 25 pieces per pallet respectively.
