Temperature-controlled packaging for the pharmaceutical sector
An unbroken cold chain is not desirable in pharmaceuticals—it is mandatory. Our packaging complies with GDP guidelines and is trusted by Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, and hospitals.

Trusted in the pharmaceutical supply chain
In the pharmaceutical sector, an uninterrupted cold chain is not only desirable; it is mandatory. Cooled Solutions supplies cold chain packaging that complies with applicable GDP guidelines (Good Distribution Practice) and is used throughout Europe for chilled shipping of medicines, vaccines, and clinical samples. Outside Europe on request.
Our customers in this sector include Bayer, Johnson & Johnson, and various Dutch hospitals and laboratories. We also work with wholesalers, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical logistics service providers.
What our solutions comply with
- GDP guidelines — developed in line with Good Distribution Practice for human medicines
- IATA-compliant — for air freight, including requirements for diagnostic samples
- Temperature validation — validation reports available upon request
- Clean production — materials produced under controlled conditions
A solution for every temperature requirement
Whether you need refrigerated biologicals, controlled room temperature, or frozen shipping — we provide validated insulation for every temperature range.
The most common requirement for vaccines, biologics, and injectables. Our solutions maintain this range for 24–72 hours, even at external temperatures of up to 30 °C.
For medicines that must not be frozen but are temperature-sensitive. Our insulation protects against both heat and frost.
For long-duration shipments with dry ice or special frozen gel packs. Particularly relevant for certain vaccines and clinical samples.

Your cold chain, secure from factory to patient
From 2–8 °C biologicals to deep-frozen vaccines — our validated solutions keep temperature-critical medicines within specification.
Documentation available on request
- Material specifications and product datasheets
- Validation reports with temperature profiles
- Declarations of Conformity
- CoO and sustainability documentation

Frequently asked questions about cold chain packaging for pharmaceuticals
What are GDP guidelines and why are they important for cold chain packaging?
GDP stands for Good Distribution Practice: the European guidelines for the storage and distribution of medicinal products. They require the cold chain to remain continuously within specification during transport. Our cold chain packaging is developed in line with these GDP guidelines, ensuring that medicines, vaccines and biologicals retain their efficacy and quality all the way to the patient.
Which temperature ranges can your cold chain packaging maintain?
We provide solutions for the three standard pharmaceutical temperature ranges: refrigerated (2–8 °C) for vaccines and biologicals, controlled room temperature (15–25 °C) for temperature-sensitive medicines, and frozen (down to -20 °C) with dry ice or frozen gel packs for clinical samples and certain vaccines.
How long do cold chain packaging keep medicines at the right temperature?
Depending on the configuration, coolant and outside temperature, our packaging typically maintains the 2–8 °C cold chain for 24 to 72 hours, even at external temperatures of up to approximately 30 °C. For your specific transport time and route, we put together the right combination of insulation and coolant.
Are your cold chain packaging solutions suitable for air freight?
Yes. Our packaging is suitable for IATA-compliant air transport of temperature-sensitive and diagnostic shipments. For pallet shipments, we also supply thermal pallet covers and thermal blankets that keep the temperature stable on the platform and during transshipment.
Do you provide validation reports and documentation?
Yes, on request we provide material specifications, validation reports with temperature profiles, declarations of conformity, and sustainability documentation. This allows you to demonstrate that your packaging meets the requirements of your quality system.
Can you develop a custom cooling solution for our shipments?
Certainly. In addition to our standard range, we develop custom pack-outs with an associated validation process, tailored to your product type, temperature range, and transport duration. Contact us to discuss your situation.
