Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about cold chain packaging for air freight

What is a thermal pallet cover or thermal cover for air freight?

A thermal pallet cover (also known as a thermal cover, thermal blanket or cargo cover) is a multilayer insulating cover placed over a pallet, roll container or ULD. The cover reflects heat and cold and creates a buffer against sudden temperature and humidity fluctuations, for example on the apron or in cold storage.

Are your packaging solutions IATA-compliant?

Yes. Our air freight solutions comply with the relevant IATA requirements for shipping temperature-critical and perishable goods, including diagnostic specimens and pharmaceuticals. Validation reports per route are available on request.

For which pallet and container sizes do you supply covers?

We supply thermal covers and pallet covers for all standard sizes, including Euro pallets, block pallets, ULD containers, LD3 and PMC units. Is your size different? Then we will make the cover to measure.

Why use a thermal cover if the cargo is going into a refrigerated hold?

The vulnerable moments occur precisely during loading and unloading on the platform, where the cargo is exposed to sun, heat, or cold, and during transshipment, where active cooling is not always available. A thermal cover bridges these moments and keeps the temperature much more stable.

How long does an air freight solution maintain the temperature?

Depending on the configuration and the coolant used, temperature retention of up to approximately 72 hours is possible. For long intercontinental routes, we recommend phase change coolants (PCM), which maintain temperature longer than standard gel packs.

Can you deliver urgently near Schiphol?
