Container desiccants — preventing condensation

Container desiccants absorb moisture in sea containers during transport, preventing condensation. Essential for shipments that are in a container for a long time, where temperature fluctuations can lead to 'cargo sweat' — damage from condensation on the load.

How do they work?

The pouch contains a strongly moisture-absorbing material (CaCl2) that actively draws moisture from the container air and converts it into gel. Once saturated, the pouch is spent and is disposed of with the waste stream.

Applications

Sea freight and transcontinental container shipments, especially for electronics, metal parts, leather, food in bags, and all goods that are vulnerable to moisture or mould.

Frequently asked questions

How many desiccant bags per container?
Depending on the type of cargo, humidity during loading, and transport duration. For a 20 ft container, typically 4–8 bags; for a 40 ft container, 8–16 bags. We will advise you based on your shipment.
How long do they work?
Standard active absorption capacity for 60–90 days. This is more than sufficient for transcontinental shipments.
Recyclable?
After use, dispose of with residual waste. Not biodegradable due to the CaCl2.
