What is GDP?
GDP stands for Good Distribution Practice: the European standard for the distribution of medicines. The guideline describes how pharma products must be transported from manufacturer to end user without compromising their quality, efficacy or safety. For cold chain packaging, this means three things:
- Validated temperature performance — the packaging must be demonstrably capable of maintaining the correct temperature under specified conditions
- Temperature monitoring — every shipment must be monitored and the temperature profile documented
- Traceability — what was packed with what, for whom, when, and how it performed
What distinguishes GDP packaging from standard cold chain packaging?
Validation reports
For pharma applications, we provide validation reports documenting the performance of the packaging under different ambient temperatures. For example: "maintained within 2-8 °C for 48 hours at an outside temperature of 25 °C, with 4 PCM elements pre-cooled to 5 °C".
Material consistency
