Buy cool boxes — portable cooling, with or without power

A cool box (also called a coolbox or cooler box) keeps food, drink or temperature-sensitive products cool in places without fixed refrigeration. Our cool boxes come in two versions: a passive cool box that you fill with cooling elements, and an electric cool box with a 12V connection for the car, van or camper. All models come standard with two 400-gram cooling elements and have a handle that locks the lid, so the contents stay safe and cool during transport.

Passive or electric (12V)?

Passive cool box

A sturdy, insulated box that you keep cool with the supplied cooling elements or extra gel packs. No power needed, no noise: fill it, add the cooling elements and you're done. Suitable for a few hours up to a day of cooling, depending on the outside temperature and how full you pack it. Ideal for picnics, beach days, technicians on site and short chilled trips. Available from the compact 12L cool box to the spacious 32L.

Electric cool box (12V)

The 12V cool box — also called a 12 volt cool box — connects to the 12V socket (cigarette lighter) in your car, van or camper. As long as there's power, the contents stay actively cooled, ideal for longer trips and transporting temperature-sensitive cargo. The supplied cooling elements serve as backup capacity when the engine is off, so your box also keeps cooling passively. Available in 12L, 26L and 32L with a 12 volt connection.

Which size do you need?

The cool boxes come in several sizes, from a compact 12-litre box that fits behind the car seat or in a bicycle bag, to a spacious 32-litre box with room for several bottles and food items. Choose a size that suits what you bring and the available space. For the best result, fully freeze the cooling elements in advance and pack the box as full as possible — less empty space means longer cooling.

What are cool boxes used for?

  • On the road and recreation. Picnics, beach days, camping and road trips — cool drinks and snacks wherever you are.
  • Mobile work and care. Technicians, home care and field staff who need chilled products or medication on site.
  • Transport of temperature-sensitive products. Suitable for safely transporting medicines and other products that require a constant temperature.
  • Events and markets. A practical cooling solution where no fixed refrigeration is available.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a passive and an electric (12V) cooler?
A passive cool box stays cool with the included gel packs or gel packs — no power required. An electric cool box (the 12V cool box) connects to the 12V socket in your car or camper and actively cools as long as power is available. The 12V models also come with gel packs, so they continue cooling passively when the engine is off.
How do I connect a 12V cool box in the car?
Plug the 12-volt cooler into the 12V socket (cigarette lighter) of your car, van, or camper. The box will immediately start actively cooling. Please note: do not leave the box switched on for too long when the engine is off to save the battery — the included gel packs will then keep the contents cool.
Are the cooler boxes supplied with gel packs?
Yes, all cool boxes come standard with two 400-gram gel packs. Freeze them completely in advance for the best cooling performance.
How long does a cooler stay cold?
That depends on the size, the number of gel packs, the outside temperature, and how fully you pack it. A well-filled box with frozen gel packs keeps the contents cool for several hours up to a day. An electric 12V cool box continues cooling as long as it is connected to power. Packing it more fully with less empty space extends the cooling time.
What size cooler box should I choose?
Choose based on what you need to bring and the available space. The compact 12L cool box fits behind a car seat or in a bicycle bag; the 32L offers room for multiple bottles and food items. Intermediate sizes of 25 and 26 liters sit in between.
Can I use a cooler box for medicines?
Yes, the cooler boxes are suitable for transporting temperature-sensitive products such as medicines, provided you use enough frozen gel packs. For strictly controlled pharmaceutical transport with temperature monitoring, we additionally recommend our coolants and data loggers.
