The 6-layer insulated bag measuring 70 cm × 55 cm is chosen when extra insulation is wanted but a large size is not needed. This size offers a good balance between capacity and insulation value and is widely used for compact food shipments that need to stay chilled or frozen for longer. In practice, the products are placed in the insulated bag, and the bag then goes into a cardboard box. This creates a controlled cold chain package suitable for shipments with longer transit times or for shipping in warmer conditions.Why a 6-layer insulated bag?
This insulated bag is built up from several insulating layers, including metalized PET film and additional insulation material. Thanks to this multi-layer construction, external heat is held back more effectively than with standard insulated bags. This gives a more stable temperature throughout the shipping process. In terms of performance, this 6-layer insulated bag compares well with a thick-walled EPS box, with the advantage that the bag is more flexible in use and takes up less storage space.Use with gel packs
The insulated bag is always used in combination with gel packs. The gel packs are placed on top of the products in the bag so that the cold can spread downwards. For optimal performance it is important that the bag is well filled and that excess air is kept to a minimum. The number of gel packs differs per situation and depends on factors such as ambient temperature and the required transit time.
