The 6-layer insulated bag 70 cm × 70 cm, also known as an isothermal bag, thermal bag or cooling bag for shipping, has been developed for shipments where standard insulation is no longer enough and extra security is wanted. This thermal shipping bag offers more room than the smaller variants and is often chosen for combined or wider shipments that need to stay chilled or frozen for longer. In practice, the products are placed in the insulated bag, and the bag is then packed in a cardboard box. This set-up creates a stable and reliable cold chain package suitable for longer transit times and shipping in warmer conditions.More layers, more insulation
This isothermal bag is built up from six insulating layers, including metalized PET film and additional insulation material. Thanks to this multi-layer construction, external heat is held back more effectively than with standard cooling bags. This helps keep the temperature inside the package more stable during chilled shipping. In terms of insulation level, this 6-layer thermal packaging compares well with a thick-walled EPS box. At the same time, the bag is more flexible in use, is a practical alternative to EPS and takes up less storage space.Combination with gel packs
For optimal performance, this insulated bag is used in combination with gel packs. The gel packs are placed on top of the products in the bag so that the cold can spread from top to bottom. It is important that the isothermal bag is well filled and that as little air as possible is left in the package. The number of gel packs depends on factors such as the required transit time and the ambient temperature.
