Buy insulated shipping bags: sizes 25 x 35 to 110 x 70 cm

If you want to buy insulated shipping bags, you choose on two points: the number of layers and the size. Our insulated shipping bags come in 2 layer, 4 layer and 6 layer, in sizes from 25 x 35 to 110 x 70 cm. They are made in our own production since 1972 and are available directly from stock. Below are all sizes per version, so you can quickly see which bag fits your shipment.

Buying an insulated shipping bag: which sizes are there?

The sizes differ per version. The 2 layer bags are the lightest and all have a self adhesive closing strip. The 4 layer and 6 layer bags share the same six sizes.

VersionSizes in cm

4 layer25 x 35, 50 x 30, 70 x 40, 70 x 55, 70 x 70 and 110 x 70

We also have paper insulated bags with a closing strip, in six sizes from 145 x 228 mm to 341 x 483 mm. They are meant for companies that want to be more sustainable.

Ordering an insulated bag: small, medium and large sizes

Ordering an insulated bag starts with the dimensions of your product or your box. A few pointers from the product data:

  • 25 x 35 cm is the smallest size, with the opening on the short side. Suitable for lab samples, medicines, cosmetics and small food shipments.
  • 50 x 30 cm has the opening on the long side. Handy for products that are wider than they are tall or for several small packages side by side.
  • 70 x 40 and 70 x 55 cm are the medium sizes, suitable for several products at once or products with a larger volume.
  • 70 x 70 cm is square. In 2 layer, the bag folds around standard crates and 600 x 400 mm boxes.
  • 110 x 70 cm is the largest size, for larger orders and long products.

The less empty space in the bag, the better the cooling performance. You can read more about the size of the box in choosing the right box size.

Buying an insulated bag: 2, 4 or 6 layer?

The number of layers decides how much insulation the bag offers. A 2 layer bag is suitable for same day and next day shipments and adds little weight and volume. The 4 layer bag is the efficient standard choice, comparable in insulation to a thin walled EPS box. The 6 layer bag is meant for warm periods and longer transit times and is comparable in insulation to a thick walled EPS box.

We do not give a number of hours. Performance depends on the fill, the number of gel packs and the outside temperature. If you want to be sure what fits your shipment, request a sample and compare it with your current packaging. The difference between the three versions is also in insulated bag: 2, 4 or 6 layer.

Large insulated bag or small insulated bag?

You choose a large insulated bag, such as the 110 x 70 cm in 6 layer, for combined orders with several products or for long products. It is widely used for professional shipping by butchers, online shops and food companies.

A small insulated bag, such as the 25 x 35 cm, is the entry size. In 2 layer it is the lightest insulation for small chilled shipments. In 4 layer and 6 layer there is more insulation in the same size, for warmer periods or a longer route. If you send small, flat products by mail, also look at our insulated mailers.

Buying a thermal bag and the coolant to go with it

A thermal bag works best with a coolant. Choose ice packs or gel packs for the cooling, or hard cooling elements if you do not want to use gel. Lay the coolant on top of the product, close the bag properly and put it in a suitable cardboard box. The number of gel packs depends on transit time, contents and outside temperature. You can read how to work that out in how many gel packs do you need.

Are you looking for an alternative to an EPS box? The bag is suitable for that. It is delivered flat, takes up little storage space and causes no crumbly waste stream. A comparison is in insulated bag or EPS box.

Pack sizes and stock

The bags are delivered per box or package. For example, the 25 x 35 cm bags in 2 layer come in boxes of 400 pieces and the 70 x 70 cm bags in 2 layer in boxes of 75 pieces. With 4 layer and 6 layer the number differs per size, for example 50 pieces per package for the 25 x 35 and 50 x 30 cm in 4 layer, and 25 pieces per package for the 50 x 30 cm in 6 layer. You see the exact number with each product. You will find all versions in the insulated shipping bag collection.
