EPS boxes with drainage holes — for fish and seafood

EPS boxes for fish have standard drainage holes in the base so that meltwater from ice and gel packs can escape. Essential for transporting fish cleanly and hygienically — a standard for decades in seafood distribution.

Why drainage holes?

Fish loses moisture and melting ice produces water. Without drainage holes this collects in the box and the fish soaks in its own moisture — a hygiene risk and quality loss. Drainage holes solve this.

Combining with absorbent pads

For extra hygiene, combine EPS with drainage holes + absorbent pads in the base. The pads absorb meltwater, the drainage holes let the excess drain away.

Frequently asked questions

For which products EPS with drainage holes?
Fish, crustaceans and shellfish, and all products with melting ice or released moisture.
For meat?
Use EPS without drainage holes for meat. Meat in sealed packaging, optionally with an absorbent pad underneath.
Number of drain holes?
Standard 4–6 holes in the bottom. Quantity depends on box size and the expected amount of meltwater.
