Why cardboard instead of polystyrene?

Polystyrene is made from petroleum, is difficult to recycle and too often ends up in the environment. More and more end customers — and webshops that are judged on sustainability — want to move away from it. A cardboard insulated box solves that: renewable raw material, fully recyclable, and a clean appearance that suits a premium fresh brand.

The difference isn't in the performance but in the waste stream. Where an EPS box has to go to a special collection point, a cardboard insulated box simply goes in the paper recycling. For brands that promote sustainability, that's a visible, marketable difference on the customer's doormat.

What cardboard insulated boxes are used for

Cardboard insulated boxes are suitable for virtually any chilled or frozen shipment where sustainability and appearance matter:

Cardboard insulated box or EPS box?

Both insulate well. The choice is mainly about sustainability versus maximum protection. If you want fully recyclable packaging with a premium appearance, cardboard is the logical choice. Are cardboard cool boxes just as good as Styrofoam?

What is the difference between the Eco Coolbox, TempGuard and honeycomb cool box?
The Eco Coolbox is a sturdy insulated box made from pressed paper pulp, ready to use immediately. The insulated box with TempGuard is a corrugated cardboard box with a separate paper insulating liner that is supplied flat and saves space. How long does a cardboard cool box stay cold?
Combined with the right gel packs, you can typically maintain the required temperature for 24 to 48 hours, from chilled (2–8 °C) to frozen. The actual cooling duration depends on the type of box, the number of gel packs, the outside temperature, and how full the box is.
What are cardboard cooling boxes used for?
